The
St. Marys Area School District believes strongly in preparing
students for life and has implemented a technology initiative
that has a student-computer ratio of 3.4 to 1. The District has
also implemented "Career Pathways for All Students"
(CPAS), which gives all students the opportunity to learn more
extensively about careers.

The
High School provides a variety of extracurricular activities including
19 varsity sports, 21 different clubs or activities, and many
musical activities including Marching Band and Show Choir. Both
the middle school and the elementary school also provide a number
of activities including intramural sports.
St.
Marys is also served by the St.
Marys Catholic Elementary School System and Elk County
Catholic High School. Both schools are fully accredited with certified
teachers.
Catholic
education provides a low-cost, faith/values centered educational
alternative with tuition assistance for families in need. Students
of other faiths are welcome. Hallmarks of the schools include
high academic standards and fair, enforced discipline codes.
Catholic
post-secondary education in the region is offered by institutions
such as Duquesne, Gannon, Mercyhurst, St. Bonaventure, and St.
Vincent.
Additional educational opportunities are available
throurgh the Community Education Council of Elk and Cameron Counties,
located in downtown of St. Marys. This organization serves as
the hub for a number of post-secondary training institutions offering
credit and non-credit courses. The CEC houses four classrooms,
two computer labs, one CAD lab, one video conferencing room and
a conference room.
